West West Hill Dinner Church
Each third Sunday of the month, we gather together on the very west side of Toronto in what has evolved within the emerging "dinner church" trend. Rather than prepare the meal together as many dinner churches do, we add a little traditional "church" to the gathering by bringing our favourite dishes from home. Potluck meals, so reminiscent of the churches in which many of us grew up, are wonderful symbols of the shared sustenance that can be realized from the roots of diverse traditions.
West West Hill promotes the same barrier-free environment as our Scarborough home, West Hill, focusing on the values that unite us rather than the religious beliefs that divide. We meet in an accessible building, the Community of Christ Church at 84 Burnhamthorpe Road (which means we're now in Etobicoke, not Mississauga). Gathering at 4:30, we share our meal and engage in meaning-making conversation and interaction that sustains us as much, and sometimes more, than the meal itself. Please feel comfortable joining us. If it's your first time out, don't feel obligated to provide a food item for the table; we'll always have enough to share.
