There are six areas of Spirits at West Hill, each with it's own unique mandate and committees. In this section, you will find a brief description of them all. This will enable you to clearly see what area you might be interested in volunteering in.
Other areas where we need resources are in of Stewardship, Ministry and Personnel as well as Fundraising.
DEEPENING THE SPIRIT: SUNDAY CLUB HELPERS - ongoing need
Do you realize how fast our Sunday Club is growing? The incredible WHUC Sunday Club that serves kids grade 1 – 8 is in need of teachers. This dynamic, fun and unique group meets each Sunday for 60 minutes to talk about real issues, develop character traits and explore what it means to live on this planet with other creatures, cultures and each other.
Your task: implement a session, engage the kids, and help out with ‘crowd control’ :). We need two Helpers per session please. Training is provided.
SUPPORTING THE SPIRIT: COUNTERS – ongoing need
With a dedicated team, we need 2-3 volunteers to spend about 20 minutes after the church service to ensure that Sunday donations are properly accounted for and deposited to the bank. Training will be provided.

CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT: Welcome/Readers x 3+
Open our services with a welcome and a reading and then greet people at the rear of the church as people leave. Sounds easy, right? This role is for the person who loves to be part of something dynamic without over-committing themselves. Does that sound like you? We are only asking for one hour of your time per month. Materials provided.
EXTENDING THE SPIRIT: Communications Committee x 2
A brand new church directory is in the works, but we need some help putting it together. We mean literally putting it together. Can you fold and staple? Then you would be a huge help. Time commitment is about 1 hour on a mutually convenient date.
SHARING THE SPIRIT: Coffee Hosts – ongoing need
Share your gift for hospitality with us! We need a few people to commit to setting up hot drinks and snacks for us each Sunday morning for our Coffee and Conversation Hour. All supplies will be available for you before hand and all you have to do is show up, set up and clean up. Easy-peasy, huh?
BEING THE SPIRIT: Visitors/Traveller’s Lunches – help needed
As part of our ongoing commitment to one another, WHUC will be hosting Visitors/Traveller’s lunches starting March 1 after the service. This will be a vegan lunch that will be made available to those who are visiting with us for the first time and for those who travel distances to come to us. It is both a thank you and a welcome. Being the Spirit: Wellness and Care is sponsoring the first two (March 1 and April 5) but we need other Ministries/Committees to do the same. Perhaps you are not on a committee but you are interested in this, no problem, connect with Trisha and she will set you up with a job!
