First Nations Study Group Welcomes Patti Pettigrew

First Nations Study Group - Special Guest
October 28th at 1:00 p.m.
Our Guest speaker, Patti Pettigrew of Aboriginal Legal Services Toronto, will bring us up to date on the Thunder Woman Healing Lodge which is to be built at Kingston Road and Cliffside Drive in Scarborough. The six-story 24 bed shelter will give support to Aboriginal women who are in trouble with the law, giving help to those on parole or probation.
There has been considerable concern by community members about its being built but it has now passed through Scarborough’s Committee Adjustment and they are now at the stage of much needed fundraising.
Patti Pettigrew sits on the Board of Directors for the Healing Lodge. When built, it will be the first of its kind in Ontario and only one of three in Canada.
