An Invitation to Hope.
Ruth Gill shares her experience spending a week in Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI), a reserve in the Ontario far north. She and 42 other Canadians visited at the invitation of the reserve's youth and Ruth tells of the challenges the community faces along with the hope they have for the future. She concludes by introducing a petition, crafted by West Hill's First Nations Study Group, which calls on the House of Commons to close the alarming gap in funding and advocates for equitable funding for housing, infrastructure, child welfare, and education. The signed petitions will be presented to Parliament by the MP for Pickering-Scarborough East, Corneliu Chisu. The petition can be found here.
